25-11-11Release of XVR 2011.2
The newest version was released in late November. In XVR 2011.2, several new features and environments have been incorporated.
The most important new functionality is the application of cause and effect logic by triggers and actions. This provides the possibility to, for example, spread the fire when the student is exploring the incident site and is looking at a specific location. For example, when the student is exploring the incident site and is looking at a specific location there is a possibility to make the fire spread. This logic can also be applied to the doors, enabling them to release smoke when the student opens a door and when the door is closed, the smoke will be hidden. This new option of showing smoke around doors, provides for the possibility to train a part of the door procedures. Furthermore, the flashover can be simulated.
Another important new development is the wildfire functionality, which provides for the visualisation and adaptation of a crawling fire and the dynamic display of a burned area. The development of this functionality is part of the
Serious Smoke & Fire Project. The wildfire functionality is to be used in the new forest and heathland environment and the new custom surface environment. The latter environment enables the possibility to load a surface image on which the scenario can be built, using the XVR object library. The environment can thus be fully adapted to the wishes of the instructor.
Other adjustments are the improvement of the high rise environment, the placement of numbers on students and student vehicles to improve their recognition, and an update of the control center. In addition, several new 3D objects are added to the XVR object library.
