Press release: Crisis management training Falck Nutec accredited by Dutch Oil & Gas Industry

Line
Falck Nutec and E-Semble’s most recent cooperation has led to the accreditation of the crisis management training ‘Management of Major Emergencies’ (MoME). The offshore MoME training is the first training for senior management in The Netherlands that meets the standards as formulated by the Dutch Oil & Gas Industry Association (NOGEPA). E-Semble delivers the control room simulator that is used in combination with live training, which provides for a unique training concept.

The Deep Water Horizon incident in 2010, also known as the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, has led NOGEPA to establish 12 priorities. The development of a crisis management training for Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs) was one of them. Senior instructors of Falck Nutec have wrote the curriculum, the NOGEPA 2.14 Management of Major Emergences. Last month, on January 13 the training was accredited and taken up in the NOGEPA training handbook.

“We attach great importance to well educated OIMs. By following the MoME training, we are well prepared for large incidents on board of an oil rig or production island. We expect all OIMs working in the Dutch Continental Shelf to have accomplished this training with good results within two years.” states Cees van Oosterom, advisor at NOGEPA.

Falck Nutec and E-Semble have cooperated in this project. Based on the curriculum, there has been invested in hardware: a training accommodation has been build which is equipped with a control room that meets all requirements.
The location of the MoME accommodation, next to the process plant, provides the possibility to simulate scenarios in which the senior management as well as the operational staff are involved. With camera recordings and with the help of observers, the training can be evaluated well. The control room simulator, developed by E-Semble, has an important role in the training, since it creates a highly realistic experience of the crisis situation.
