06-12-11E-Semble partner in Delft Dynamics project
The project of Delft Dynamics, USPvOS (Universal Simulation Platform for Unmanned Systems) has been awarded to the second phase of the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) programme of the Dutch government. E-Semble is a partner in this project, which is now entering the development phase.
The aim of the project is to let operators of unmanned systems, such as airplanes and helicopters, take part in virtual trainings. Therefore, a platform is being developed (USPvOS) in which the ground stations of the systems are linked to serious games. This provides the possibility of training the entire commando structure. This SBIR project of Delft Dynamics is, just like E-Semble’s PD3D project, part of SBIR Serious Gaming.
E-Semble is one of the serious gaming suppliers in the project and contributes by supplying simulation software XVR. The knowledge of Delft Dynamics of unmanned systems, combined with the expertise of the serious gaming developers, gives this project a solid base. The end product is een modular embedded computer, which enables the communicatie between the ground station and the serious game. The USPvOS system can be adapted to any unmanned system, since the linkage is facilitated by modular hardware.
At the end of the development phase (phase 2), demonstrations will be held for several operational safety services. The three different serious games in the project, including XVR, will be demonstrated in linkage with three different ground stations. These demonstrations are planned fore late 2012.
