E-Semble’s PD3D project awarded to the next phase

Line
The PD3D project of E-Semble, in which a crime scene rapid 3D scenario tool is developed, has been awarded to enter phase 2 of the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) programme of the Dutch government. This means that the project has successfully passed the feasibility test in phase 1 and is now going to the development phase.

Goal of the project is to develop a tool that can be used by the police for direct visualization of a crime scene or a high risk location. Normally, these locations are made into a so called “point cloud” by using laser scanning techniques. However, this scan is static and therefore it takes a lot of time and effort to convert this into a virtual 3D scenario, used for education and training purposes.

With the new “point cloud” visualization and gaming techniques, used in the PD3D project, a tool is created that provides for fast creation of virtual scenarios in a laser scan environment. The scenarios can be used by security services for education and training as well as planning and briefing during a deployment. Operational scenario visualization and forensic and court room visualization also belong to the possibilities of the PD3D tool.

Within SBIR Serious Gaming and Simulation, 6 projects are selected to move to the next phase. Next to being initiator of the PD3D project, E-Semble is also partner in the Delft Dynamics project. This project will now also enter the development phase.
